The four laid face down in the grass with their hands cable-tied behind their backs. Tiago and his sister choked on their uncontrollable weeping as tears ran into their mouths.

Vincent whispered to the others, “Don’t tell them a damn thing! Don’t help them at all.”

A familiar nasal voice cut through the chaos, “Yep, those two are mine. I don’t know who the other ones are.”

Vincent craned his neck. “Mom, what the hell are you doing here?”

“We were worried about you. People were saying you were part of that illegal blood swapping stuff. The agents assured me if I helped them that they would let us be a family again. Isn’t that great? We can all go back to living together as God intended.”

“Are you nuts, Mom? We never wanted to live with you because you’re mental. Why did you call the blood cops on us? Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?”

Agent Eli Schroeder removed his black helmet, “That’s no way to talk to your mother, son,” Eli replied. “You’ll learn some manners when we get you home.”

“You asshole! Why can’t you just leave our family alone? You sick bastard! You know damn well we were involved in the blood trade since you used to come for your own monthly extortion.”

Officer Schroeder dropped his boot into Vincent’s back. “That’s enough from you, son.” He turned to his new wife. “Don’t worry about your kids. They have to be taken to a holding facility for processing, but when they’re finished with that they will come to live with us.” He pointed his black glove toward the estate. “I told you this property was amazing. Think of how much 10% of this place will sell for. We’re gonna be able to buy all the blood we’ll ever need.”
